Hi-Fi Rush: Fashionable-action that marches to your own drummer.
The last thing I expected from the developer Tango Gameworks was a vibrant enjoyable action game that has the heart of a classic cartoon I would've loved. Tango Gameworks is most famous for the dark and creepy resemblances and dreadful likes of The Evil Within or Ghostwire: Tokyo however Hi-Fi Rush is instead filled with a joyous, youthful personality seen in its stunning graphics, animated style, and characters. In addition, the exciting change in style is already an exciting change, the greatest thing about Tango is how it masterfully executes on the singular concept that is a central part of Hi-Fi Rush's aesthetic and gameplay. The idea that rhythm is all-encompassing.
As soon as you start the album The Hi-Fi Rush is a tribute to alt- and contemporary garage music and opens by making use of The Black Keys' "Lonely Boy" to introduce the hilarious but adorable protagonist Chai and the colorful, high-tech industrialized world which he is a part of. As as a "defect" by robotics megacorp Vandelay Industries after a surgical accident that leaves him with iPod inside his chest, Chai is able to sense and feel the pulse of his music flowing through the world surrounding him. From then, nearly everything is impressively connected to Hi-Fi Rush's soundtrack as this childish jolly goofball smashes Vandelay robots with a makeshift sword in the shape of a Gibson Flying V.

It's done with an effortless sense of humor with some genuine warmth. From multiple angles, Hi-Fi Rush allows you to display its unique charm.
At its best Hi-Fi Rush's fighting style creates an unbeatable, harmonious flow in which music guides you at every step of the process. Chai always executes his attacks on the beat regardless of your own input timing, nevertheless, keeping the rhythm of the BGM's BPM allows you to gain extra damages, rather than bringing about the consequences of not-in-time notes. With the same basis as Devil May Cry or Bayonetta each battle in the roughly 10- 12 hours long campaign is graded on completion speed elegantity, style, and ability to stay on time through combos. That constant connection to the music produces a certain level of satisfaction I haven't experienced from other games that have a style and action.
The system's rhythm leaves no unanswered questions about timing in combos. It keeps it moving in a manner that allows for room to think about each move that follows. Making the decision on whether I should utilize a light or heavy attack to change the combo string, play octordle parry or dodge ahead of hits coming in, the grappling hook that closes the gap on targets, or the summons to have a friend smash shields or stun enemies was never overwhelming because I was able to simply move in tune to the music. It doesn't stay on single idea or gimmick too long . It's constantly throwing in innovative ideas to explore before making them all work together to test my mastery, this meant that I never felt like I was just grinding away with a simple four-fourth time signature.
I'm convinced that Hi-Fi Rush could be a top-rated cartoon series. It has top-of-the-line animation with lovable heroes to cheer at, and villains to love to hate, all with a touch of humor. In addition to that unending charm, it converts an energetic rock soundtrack into the best weapon it can with meticulous attention to syncing the beat to every aspect of the game. It gives combat a unique exhilarating pace that many other style-action games cannot provide and even when the platforming and targeting system miss just a few notes along its journey. Hi-Fi Rush is a memorable journey that beats the melody of it's own beat and is without doubt among the best action games.
